This morning: Phillip jokes about the benefits of Viagra for Alzheimer’s

This Morning fans are unhappy with host Phillip Schofield after he made a “callous” joke about Alzeimher’s patients taking Viagra.

The 59-year-old host was talking about the latest health news with his GP, Dr. Nighat Arif, when he made the joke, which was not well received by viewers.

After revealing that Viagra can help people with Alzheimer’s, which is a memory-impairing type of dementia, Phil said, “So they can remember that they left the door open but can’t get close enough to close it.”

Fans were furious at the father-of-two’s comment, with one of them tweeting, “I usually like you, but I just saw you make a joke that Viagra has a potential cure for Alzheimer’s” so you can remember to open the door. , but you can ‘Don’t get close enough to open it’ Please don’t joke callously! “

Another said, “There are some things you don’t joke about. It is a terribly cruel disease.”

A third wrote: “Now mocking Alzheimer’s … the guy is an absolute fool! And that’s me being polite!”

While a fourth raged: “As someone whose mother had dementia, I was not impressed. Any pharmacological breakthroughs for that horrible disease are welcome.”

However, others did not see the problem with what Phil said, with a writing: “I loved the joke Phil”, while another joked: “She deflected that cheeky joke well then Phil!”

Dr. Nighat Arif was speaking about the condition

The furor comes after the Dancing One Ice host was criticized yesterday for making a joke about dyslexia.

Asked former health secretary Matt Hancock about their extramarital affair, he said: “Was it his dyslexia that meant he misread the social distancing rules?”

Matt was caught in a clinch with lobbyist Gina Coladangelo against the door of his Whitehall office in June, while telling the country to socially distance itself.

Phil’s fans didn’t appreciate the joke with a tweet: “What’s Phillip’s problem? Totally unnecessary and disrespectful behavior towards people with dyslexia.”

While another said “Horrible and disgusting by @Schofe. My 8 year old son is struggling with his education due to #Dyslexia and using this to clickbait #ThisMorning”.

The Mirror has reached out to representatives for Phillip for comment.

This morning is Monday through Friday at 10 am on ITV.
